Dallas pastor T.D. Jakes experienced a “slight health incident” on stage Sunday, according to a statement from the church posted on X.
Jakes, senior pastor and founder of The Potter’s House in Dallas, is stable and being cared for by medical professionals, the statements said. Officials did not elaborate on what may have caused the health scare that was caught on camera or what his prognosis is.
In clips of the church’s virtual broadcast being circulated on social media, Jakes is sitting on a stool and appears to be finishing a prayer as he says “My redeemer, let him go in peace.” He lowers the microphone before he begins shaking, the video shows.
A group of people rush forward to help him as the audience expresses their concern. According to the video, the virtual broadcast switched to screen reading “Thank you” as live audio continued and a man started to lead the room in prayer.
“Father in the name of Jesus, we speak life over the man of God right now,” he said.
Jordan Hora, spokesperson for the church, said she was not able to share any additional details at this time.
Jakes’ daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and her husband Toure Roberts took to social media Sunday evening to say that Jakes was doing well. They also thanked people for their support.
“I’m so grateful that he’s already beginning to improve and I think it’s just a reminder, even going into this holiday season, we need to love on the people you hold near and dear and just take the time to be grateful for all the people God’s given you,” Jakes Roberts said.
