Yolanda “Marie” Singleton

January 15, 1968 – May 20, 2023

Yolanda Marie Singleton, 55, of Dallas, TX and formerly of Rochester, NY passed away peacefully Saturday May 20th, 2023, in her home after a brief illness. She was born on January 15th, 1968, the daughter of Ralph Brown and Barbara (Wilbert Singleton) Singleton. After Yolanda graduated from Churchville chili High school in 1985, She went on to become a licensed Cosmetologist and a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1989 Yolanda married Daniel Sherman in Rochester, New York. Yolanda and Daniel had one child Danielle Marie Sherman. In 1998 Tyler Singleton was born to Yolanda Singleton and Ramsey Shaw.

Marie or also known as Bone-crusher, had cooking skills out of this world, feeding an entire neighborhood. If she tasted a new recipe, she would know every ingredient and would also re-create the dish to make it her own. Not a single soul would ever go hungry in her presence. She was a nurse, and those skills extended to friends and relatives alike. Marie was an investigative reporter always getting the details on all the stories. They called her Rona-Barrett after this. If you asked her what was going on she knew all the details. Even in the struggles in her life, she maintained a strong love and relationship with God.

Cherishing fond memories are her children: Danielle (Sharday) Sherman of Rochester, NY, Tyler Singleton (Father: Ramsey Shaw) of Rochester, NY, and Kashmire Benson (Godson) of Dallas, TX. Grandchildren: Amelia and Noah Hildreth. Sister: Veronica Singleton. Aunts and Uncles: Mildred Session, Debbie (Wendell) Smith, Linda (David) Blake, Josh Session, Jerry Session, and Donald Session. She had a special relationship with her cousin Alicia Wells Johnson, Bobby Hopson Jr, and Kierra Hopson Taylor. And a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
