Brandon Tavon Smith, aka “Sonny Boy,” was born on May 18, 1995, and he passed away on January 19, 2023.
Brandon was born in Baltimore, Maryland and was raised in Keller, Texas. He was affectionately nicknamed, “Brown Sugar” by his Mother Toni because of his endearing personality and his golden honey brown complexion. As a young boy, Brandon was quite the charmer. He was extremely adventurous, curious, and rambunctious. Growing up, Brandon was your typical boy who loved to play outdoors, go bike riding and had a love for animals. As a young boy, Brandon quickly became known as, “The Family Reporter.” He often maintained a low profile, yet he was extremely observant and uniquely perceptive. Brandon by all accounts was sharp, and no one ever suspected when he was eavesdropping. He became notorious for giving a play by play account of who was in the room, what was said, how it was said and even went as far to provide descriptive content when prompted to do so. Delightfully inquisitive, Brandon could always be counted on to keep everyone on their toes and thoroughly entertained.
The family eventually relocated to the great state of Texas in 2005. As a young boy, Brandon developed a huge love for sports, specifically football, basketball and baseball. He was a loyal fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles. He loved the collegiate football team Alabama Crimson Tide, and he was an avid gamer. Brandon graduated from Timber Creek High School on May 31, 2014. He decided to be more health conscious and became a Vegan in 2016. He was a devoted fan of Hip Hop Music.
As Brandon settled into his adult life, he became very passionate in his quest for success. He was hugely ambitious, with an exceptional work ethic. He held positions in the Customer Service and Technical Support division within Wells Fargo and Charles Schwab respectively. Brandon also worked as a delivery driver, and he held positions at FedEx and Amazon. He absolutely loved the open road and driving long distances. He recently made plans to attend truck driving school to obtain his CDL license.
Brandon was compassionate, empathetic and intentional about helping people and meeting the needs of others. He was widely known as a selfless, honorable man of extraordinary character and integrity. The common theme from those that knew and loved him well is that Brandon was humble, he loved unconditionally, and he was an inspiration to many. He was a loyal, faithful friend.
Brandon’s spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved and cherished him, and we will miss him dearly. Gone from our arms, but forever in our hearts. Although short-lived, his life was well lived. He leaves behind a legacy of Love and Light!
Brandon is survived by his Mother and Father Antoinette and Rodney Nalle, his siblings, Chantelle Nixon, Brittany Smith, London Smith, Luke Smith and a host of other relatives and many close dear friends.
