The Founding Fathers predicted that America’s democracy, absence men of integrity, would face a perilous fate. John Adams, December 17, 1814, wrote to John Taylor, “Remember that democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a Democracy Yet, that did not commit suicide. It is in vain to Say that Democracy is less vain, less proud, less selfish, less ambitious, or less avaricious than Aristocracy or Monarchy.”
Unremarkably, though the Founding Fathers were reflective about democracy’s fate, they chose not to identify the conspirators. But as it would be, America as well as the entire world is witnessing the dismantling of democracy. Sadly, the prevailing conspirators are former president Trump, Republican Congresspersons, and SCOTUS’ six conspirators.
To fully understand how we got the six conspirators, we must look back to the Bush v. Gore 2000 presidential election. Hanging chads and dysfunctional voting machines wreaked havoc on this election. Consequently, the outcome was determined by Chief Justice Rehnquist of the Supreme Court, not the people. Realizing the power of the Supreme Court, the conspiracy unfolded to pack the Court.
John Roberts, Bush’s former campaign attorney, became Chief Justice of The Supreme Court. Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Barett, and Neil Gorsuch joined justices Alito and Thomas. Remember, Senator McConnell blocked Obama from filling a vacancy. This unethical strategic tactic allowed Trump to ensure packing of the Court with six conspirator justices willing to affirm a fascist agenda.
Chief Justice Roberts boldly acted on his long crusade as a conspirator to castrate the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Once he gutted Section 3 of the act, southern states no longer restrained, unleased a slew of voter suppression legislation. Next, the conspirators targeted Roe v. Wade and gleefully overturned it. Trump flexed his unsavory powers and promised to turned America into his personal Autocracy during a second term.
Without any hint of integrity, the six conspirators during Trump’s immunity hearing, behaved as judicial partisan activists. They focused more on what harm might occur if a president didn’t have absolute immunity. Their types of questioning raised a stench of complicit conservative leniency.
Despite the merits of this case, the single question asked, and the criminal charges cited against Trump, SCOTUS’ six conspirators turned a blind eye. Their preposterous hypothetical scenarios exposed a dangerous preemptive level of complicity. They intentionally did this to avoid rendering a decision rejecting Trump’s claim of having absolute immunity. Conspirator Alito cleverly raised an even more asinine hypothetical situation, “criminal prosecution of former presidents might “lead us into a cycle that destabilizes the functioning of our country as a democracy.”
The conspirators with this kind of reasoning unintentionally raised the issue that they themselves constitute an even greater threat to democracy. They completely avoided answering the central question, “Do presidents have absolute immunity?” Trump did exactly what they suggested an incumbent would use as an incentive to cling to power by antidemocratic means. Nevertheless, they’ve refused to acknowledge Trump used them as his key exception for avoiding prosecution.
Regrettably, the six conspirators defiantly appear preparing to rescue their revered immoral former president. Now, it’s voters turn to examine whether there’s any evidence that SCOUTUS’ six conservative justices are acting as conspirators.
The Founding Fathers prophesized that somehow or someway democracy would eventually succumb to suicide or murder. However, is it remotely plausible that they would’ve contemplated SCOTUS’ six conspirator Justices becoming accomplices to the murder of democracy?
