Black athletes have played a pivotal role in transforming Division I basketball and football into a multi-billion-dollar industry. Now, the NCAA is on the brink of settling two antitrust cases for approximately $2.8 billion, related to name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights.

While the settlement offers financial compensation, limited advertising targeting Black athletes raises concerns that some may miss out. The estimated average payment for each eligible football and men’s basketball player ranges from $91,000 to $280,000.

Who Is Eligible?

If you are, or know, a Black college athlete who participated in Division I basketball or football between 2016 and 2024, you may be eligible to file a claim.
