The Life and Story of LaSonja Katrice Scourten-Davis

LaSonja Scourten-Davis

LaSonja Katrice Scourten-Davis was born March 21, 1969 in Lufkin, TX to LeRoy Howard Jr. and Betty Joyce Scourten-Brown. LaSonja ascended to her Heavenly home on Sunday, February 26, 2023.

Very early in life LaSonja dedicated herself to Christ and was a long-time member of the Faithful Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, TX.

Her primary and secondary education took place in the Wilmer-Hutchins Independent School District where she graduated in 1987 from Wilmer-Hutchins High School.

LaSonja had a passion for the Performing and Visual Arts and was an avid dancer; she honed those dance skills as a member of Wilmer-Hutchins Bluebelles Drill Team for which she served as Captain for three years.

LaSonja started her career as a professional banker with Texas Commerce Bank.

Her career with that organization spanned nearly three decades culminating in her being named an Assistant Vice-President of what would eventually become BNY Mellon.

LaSonja was arguably most passionate about her family.

She could often be heard yelling from the stands cheering on her daughter Sidney as she ran track or her son Garrett as he played football.

LaSonja lived life fully and on her own terms. She loved hard, she laughed hard, and she prayed hard.
