In Memoriam: Mr. Theodore “Thed” Roddey

Mr. Theodore Thed Roddey

Mr. Theodore “Thed” Roddey, husband of the 20th National President of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Bertha Maxwell Roddey. Mr. Roddey made his peaceful transition at the age of 95 on Sunday, September 5. His devotion to his beloved wife of 34 years and commitment to uplifting communities across North Carolina was evident in all that he did. Owner of the Theodore Roddey Masonry Company, he later used his business acumen to manage the Theodore and Bertha Roddey Foundation, which he founded alongside Soror Roddey. Mr. Roddey had the distinction of being the oldest member of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as Chair of the Deacon Board. 

The final arrangements for Mr. Roddey:

  • Wake: Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

  • Homegoing Service: Friday, September 10, 2021, at 1:00 pm
    Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church
    5725 Liberty Hill Road, Catawba, SC 29704
    Outdoor service with limited seating available

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that you consider donating to the Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund in honor of Mr. Roddey. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 10067, Rock Hill, SC 29731.
