Fort Worth SPJ will host new SPJ president (and former chapter board member) Rebecca Aguilar in a 6:30 p.m. Zoom session Monday, Sept. 27. Aguilar, the first Latina and woman of color to lead the organization in its 112 years, will discuss her goals for SPJ and ways to meet them. Bring questions, she’ll have answers.

Aguilar is a freelance reporter, commentator, consultant and social media columnist with deep ties to the region. She worked for KDFW-TV in Dallas as well as stations in San Antonio; Corpus Christi; Toledo, Ohio; and Los Angeles. She has been the Texas AP’s Reporter of the Year and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists’ Broadcast Journalist of the Year, and has won several Emmy Awards.

She is the fifth national SPJ president from the Fort Worth chapter in its 75-year history.
