Congresswoman Johnson Announces $1.6 Million in Federal Funding for Parkland Health & Hospital System

Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson announced that Parkland Health & Hospital System has been awarded $1,608,793 from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services through a Health Center Cluster Grant. This funding will support Parkland and their Homeless Outreach Medical Services (HOMES) program to improve the health of vulnerable populations with access to comprehensive and quality primary health care services.

“During this pandemic, I have been a proud advocate for patients and their families to have the medical and community resources necessary in these turbulent times, and I greatly admire how Parkland has risen to the occasion to meet the needs of North Texans,” said Congresswoman Johnson. “This federal funding will support Parkland’s critical work to provide affordable and accessible medical care to many in our underserved communities. I am glad that our local hospitals and clinics are receiving the financial assistance that they need to continue the fight against COVID-19.”

The Homeless Outreach Medical Services (HOMES) program is an effort between Parkland and the Children’s Health Fund. This program provides medical, dental, and behavioral health services to children and adults who are homeless. Health care services are offered from five medical mobile clinics at various sites throughout Dallas County, and each clinic has a nursing station, two examination rooms, a class D pharmacy, and a restroom. Clinics are held at most sites on a weekly basis, and the HOMES program also offers services at The Bridge and The Stewpot.
