Kendra Lewis is a self-described “focused, committed activist for civil rights and justice for all.” Her Democratic Party pedigree is impressive as she has served as president of the Elk Grove South County Democratic Club, and vice chair of the Democratic Party of Sacramento County; in addition to having joined the party upon turning 18. A graduate of California State University – Fresno, Kendra is the past Vice President of the Sacramento YWCA, currently a board member of Traveler’s Aid, a 125-year old Sacramento institution, Treasurer of the San Francisco Community Land Trust, Sacramento Urban Debate League, co-chair of the national organization Girls Who Code Parent Advisory Committee, and a founding member of the Sacramento County African American Coalition. Highly respected, Kendra is passionate and often praised for her bold leadership.
