Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett Appointed to New January 6th Subcommittee

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) released the following statement after being appointed by Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries to the new January 6th subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee:

“On January 6th, 2021, our democracy was attacked. A violent mob, fueled by Donald Trump’s lies, stormed the Capitol to overturn a free and fair election. Police officers were beaten, windows were smashed, and lives were lost. To this day, extreme MAGA Republicans are working to whitewash what happened and excuse the inexcusable.

I am honored to join Congressman Eric Swalwell and Congressman Jared Moskowitz on this subcommittee. Together, we will ensure the American people never forget who was responsible for January 6th—and that those responsible are held accountable.

This is not about Democrats versus Republicans. This is about defending the Constitution we all swore an oath to uphold. The American people deserve honesty, accountability, and leaders who will protect democracy—not tear it down. I am committed to making sure that the American people know the truth about January 6th and remember all those responsible for the defilement of the Capitol.”
