OBIT: TOMMY SCHAEFFER

Tommy Schaeffer, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully departed this world on August 10, 2025, in Midlothian, Texas, at the age of 76. Born on November 15, 1948, in New Orleans, Tommy’s vibrant spirit and larger-than-life personality touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Tommy was known for his unwavering love for the New Orleans Saints, a passion that brought him joy and camaraderie with fellow fans. His zest for life was mirrored in his fashionable appearance and his ever-ready smile. The essence of Tommy was defined not merely by his interests, but by his profound love for people. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel seen and cherished, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Tommy enjoyed fishing and riding his scooter, reveling in nature’s beauty and the freedom it provided. His hobbies extended into gardening, where he found solace in nurturing plants, and he was often found under the hood of a car, employing his mechanic skills. Beyond these interests, Tommy was well-known for his playful spirit, often making those around him laugh with his witty, straightforward humor.

Tommy’s culinary talents were second to none, especially when it came to making candy and preparing breakfast, where he delighted family and friends with his signature pancakes.

He took immense joy in providing for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments as if they were his own. One of his proudest moments was buying a house for his wife, a testament to his love and commitment. He also courageously survived Hurricane Katrina, exemplifying his strength and resilience.

As a man of faith, Tommy found purpose in serving others, proudly holding the title of Deacon in his community. He was a beacon of light—funny, loving, outgoing, outspoken, and incredibly generous. His upbeat nature and willingness to engage in conversation made him a favorite among friends and strangers alike.

A viewing will be held on August 22, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. The funeral service will take place the following day, August 23, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Hebron Community Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
