
Lizzo, born Melissa Viviane Jefferson in 1988, was born in Detroit and raised in Houston, Texas. She studied classical flute at the University of Houston and began her music career performing in indie hip-hop groups. In 2013, she released her debut album Lizzobangers, but broke into mainstream success with Cuz I Love You in 2019, featuring hits like “Truth Hurts” and “Juice.” Lizzo has won four Grammy Awards and was named TIME’s Entertainer of the Year in 2019. She is also known for promoting body positivity and self-acceptance, often integrating these themes into her performances, lyrics, and public appearances.
