The Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS) will begin the closure of the Temporary Inclement Weather Shelter (TIWS) today, January 13, 2025, due to triggers no longer being met. Closures will occur in stages and continue through the morning of January 14, 2025.
The following locations will remain open throughout the closure of TIWS, however no new intakes will occur:
- Fair Park Grand Place, 3701 Grand Ave., Dallas, TX, 75210
Additionally, OHS is distributing DART passes via Austin Street Center, to facilitate the departure and ensure all guests have access to necessary transit. The Austin Street Connector will provide transportation for all guests as part of the closure and departure procedure.
The potential for additional inclement weather following the current iteration of TIWS has been identified. If conditions worsen and reach our predetermined thresholds, inclement weather protocol will be activated. In preparation, the Fair Park Grand Place Building will remain staged between TIWS activations for potential use.
We continue to closely monitor weather conditions and adjust our strategies accordingly to accommodate all those in need.
