UNT DALLAS IN SOUTHERN DALLAS TO HOST MONTHLY DRIVE-THRU FOOD PANTRY EVENT ON FRIDAY (OCT. 18) FROM 9 A.M.-NOON

The free event is open to any North Texas community member in need of nutritional support; this year, UNT Dallas’ events have provided more than 180,000 lbs. of food to nearly 10,000 people

Continuing efforts to support its neighboring communities, the University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) will team up with the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) to host their monthly mobile food pantry event on campus Friday (Oct. 18) from 9 a.m.-noon (or until the food runs out).

This year, more than 180,000 pounds of food have been distributed to nearly 10,000 people, pointing to the ongoing need for assistance. In fact, according to the NTFB, one out of every six children in North Texas is food insecure.

The UNT Dallas mobile food pantry program started more than four years ago during the pandemic and has continued monthly to help students and the community.

The free drive-through service is open to the public and any community members needing food support.

Participants will complete a simple intake form while remaining inside their cars. Volunteers will then load a box of food into each person’s trunk. The next mobile food pantry will be held the weekend before Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov. 23, followed by the final event of the year on Friday, Dec. 20.

The UNT Dallas campus is located in southern Dallas at 7300 University Hills Blvd., Dallas, TX 75241. For more information, go to untdallas.edu.
