Coco jones inspires a generation at Paul Quinn

By Anthony Council

Excitement filled the auditorium at Paul Quinn College for the “Voices That Matter” event featuring Grammy-winning artist Coco Jones. As students gathered eagerly, Jones shared her inspiring journey from student-athlete to rising star in the music industry.

Reflecting on her experiences, she emphasized the importance of balance: “Being a student-athlete taught me a lot about balance. You know you have to be in school and also practicing your sport.” She encouraged students to discover their “why,” stating, “Finding your why and what you’re really passionate about and knowing what really drives you.” This message resonated deeply, prompting students to reflect on their own motivations.

Jones made a point that truly resonated with the audience when she said, “Sometimes I’m like, ‘Yo, I really get to do a job that I love. I get to do what I love, and that’s also my job.’” Her enthusiasm reminded everyone to appreciate their unique paths.
