USC group plans roast of Vice President Harris, while students are protesting racist/sexist event

Univ. of South Carolina alums, students, and supporters are rallying the troops in protest of a group, Uncensored America, that is hosting a “Roast of 2024 Presidential nominee and Vice President Cumala Harris” at the Russell House on USC’s campus.

In a call with #winwith-BlackWomen (WWBW), student Makayla Grant and others, including USC alum Jotaka Eaddy of WWBW discussed the “sexist, racist” nature of the event that is being publicized and scheduled for Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Deemed disrespectful and inappropriate, people are expressing their displeasure with the “roast.”

While school officials cite freedom of speech, those who don’t agree are being asked to call or write the president of USC at 803-777-2001 or president@sc.edu, and the Board of Trustees at 803-777-3106.
