City of Dallas Eligible for FEMA Assistance

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved the addition of Dallas County to the Presidential Disaster Declaration ensuring that residents that were impacted by last week’s severe weather are eligible to apply for the FEMA Individual Assistance Program. With this addition, Collin, Denton, and Dallas County residents are eligible for Individual Assistance.

The Individual Assistance program provides financial and direct services to eligible individuals and households affected by a disaster, who have uninsured or under-insured necessary expenses and serious needs. It is not a substitute for insurance and cannot compensate for all losses caused by a disaster. The assistance is intended to meet basic needs and supplement disaster recovery efforts.

To apply, homeowners and renters can:

  • Go online to disasterassistance.gov/
  • Download the FEMA App for mobile devices
  • Call the FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362 between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM. Help is available in most languages.

The Office of Emergency Management will collaborate closely with FEMA and Dallas County to provide messaging in English and Spanish that can be shared with residents. We will share that information as soon as it is available.
