Talk about impressive! The Honorable Carrie Forney Gordon served as Mayor of Balch Springs, TX from May 2009 – May 2015. In May 2020, Dr. Gordon was appointed to a 1-year term at the request of the City Council. The term was extended an additional 2-years as an unopposed Mayoral candidate. Mayor Gordon is the first female to serve 3-consecutive terms; the first female appointed Mayor; the first female to run unopposed; and the first Black female to serve as Mayor in the city’s history. Dr. Gordon spent her professional career as an Urban Planner with the City of Dallas, TX and she also served as the first Black City Administrator for the City of Wilmer, TX. Dr. Gordon is an effective leader, team player and coalition builder who gets things done.
