Thelma Bernice Walton

Thelma Bernice Walton was born in Quitman, TX on July 4, 1928 to Zebedee and Mary Pruitt. She enjoyed the happiness of three siblings; Lois, Thomas, and Charles which all proceeded her in death including her parents.

Thelma attended and later graduated from Quitman High School. She later attended to Jarvis Christian University, in Wood County where she received a degree in Education. At an early age Thelma joined New Hope Baptist Church in Como Texas, where she served and learned to play the piano. Later, in life she relocated to Dallas, Texas where she met the love of her life Willie Walton. To this union they had four children. 

Thelma went to work as an educator for Dallas ISD, she taught at Pinkston High School until retirement. Thelma and her family joined New Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church where she served as the musician for many years.

Thelma departed this life on July 18, 2023. Memories will forever be cherished in the hearts of her only son, Rick; three daughters, Kathy (Joseph), Janice, and Michelle (Craig). One brother in love, Lewis Walton and her favorite Sister in love, Lue Kate Walton. Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
