Bridgette Loraine Hill was born January 15, 1966, to Sidney Lee Hill Sr. & Ruth Sweet Hill. She was the second child born to this union. She was put into foster care as a toddler along with her brother, Sidney Jr.
From the age of 2 she was adopted by her uncle and aunt, Dorothy Hill-Luster and John Luster. Bridgette referred to her aunt affectionately as ‘’Mudda”.
She was a bright and fun-loving child who enjoyed spending summers in Tyler with her grandparents, uncles and aunts.
Bridgette graduated from Wilmer-Hutchins High School and attended business school after graduation.
She was the mother of one child, Sasha, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her biological Father, Sidney; Aunt Dorothy and Uncle John; Brother, Sidney Jr.; and Sister, Cynthia LaDore.
Bridgette was intrigued by the piano and as a little girl she would bang on the keys of her Grandma Lessie’s piano singing “keepa lemme lamme” (we had no idea what that song was about but it brought her so much comfort and joy) she would sing it with passion…and she loved to hear “I’ll Take You There” by The Staple Singers.
Each year we anticipated Bridgette and her brother’s visit to Tyler for the summer, and/or our visit to Dallas to babysit them for summer break. In some ways they were like our siblings because there wasn’t much of an age difference, however, Bridgette and her brother always respected us and called us Aunt and Uncle. Bridgette always maintained that level of respect for us. She will be greatly missed.
As a child, Bridgette accepted the Lord as her personal savior while attending vacation bible school in Tyler and rededicated her life to Christ during her illness.
Leaving to mourn her passing are…her daughter Sasha’s best friend, Latashua Edwards, Dallas TX, who was like a daughter to her and cared affectionately for her after the passing of her daughter Sasha; her oldest sister, Gloria Henry, Tyler, TX; Uncles Roy Hill (Mary) Minden, LA; Bobby Hill (Ora) Ft Worth, TX; Ruben Hill (Janice) Lancaster, TX; Thomas Hill (Joe Ann) Killeen, TX; Tony Hill Lancaster, TX; Aunts Maye Kennedy, Tyler, TX; Faye Hill-Jackson, Wentzville, MO; Gloria Hill-Dodson, Lancaster, TX; and a host of cousins and relatives.
Bridgette also had other siblings from her biological mother, Ruth Sweet-Hill; Shannon Garcia Proby, Amanda Harris and Erick Douglass Pilhgren.
