Adell Smith was born on July 16, 1941, to the parents of Price Baker and Willie Mae Jones. Adell was born and raised in Winnsboro, Louisiana and graduated from Franklin Parish Training School. In 1961, after graduating from high school, she enrolled in Bishop College and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education. Later she enrolled in East Texas State University (now Texas A&M University-Commerce) and received a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education in 1972. Adell Smith was initiated into Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Alpha Xi Omega Chapter, Dallas, Texas in November 1995.
Adell was a Dallas Independent School District educator for many years working at Franklin D Roosevelt High School, Clara Oliver Elementary School, and William Cabell Elementary School. At Clara Oliver Elementary School, she served as a Math Demonstration Teacher. She retired in 1998 from T. D. Marshall Elementary school where she served as grade level chair for many years.
On September 16, 1966, married the late Elder Melba Smith, her high school sweetheart, for 52 3/4 years. To this union son, the late Aldric Renard Smith was born.
Adell is a Charter Member of Concord Baptist Church and served as a Deaconess and member of the VIP Senior Organization.
Adell is preceded in death by her parents, Price Baker and Willie Mae Jones, brother, Nathaniel Robinson, son, Aldric Renard Smith, and loving husband Melba Smith.
