Mrs. Gladys Marie Howard

Life Reflections

Gladys Marie Howard, affectionately called “Mama” and “Granny,” was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was the glue that held everything together. Her children loved her dearly. She played an active role in each of their lives with encouragement and support.

She was the oldest child born to Monroe Harrison and Erma Lue Harrison, 93 years ago in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from Douglas High School in Sulphur Springs, Texas on May 30, 1947. As a young woman, she played basketball at Douglas High School. Later, she and B.D. Howard Sr. were married. During their 72 years of marriage, they became the proud parents of five beloved children.

Gladys Marie Howard was employed as a Food Service worker at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School, Holy Cross Catholic School, and Wilmer Hutchins High School. Later she retired from Wilmer Hutchins Independent School District. She and her husband were faithful members of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 59 years where she served on the altar society and grief ministry. Gladys enjoyed cooking for her family and loved tending to her plants and flowers.

Gladys Marie Howard was preceded in death by her husband, B.D. Howard Sr., son, Gregory Lynn Howard, JD., grandson, DeAndre Howard, parents Monroe Harrison and Erma Lue Harrison, and her brother, Louis Edward Harrison (“Billy”).

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, B.D. Howard Jr., Esq., (Debra), Jerry Wayne Howard, Jacquelon Marie Rodgers (Arthur), William Avery Howard; and a host of grandchildren, BD Howard III, JD., Gerald Lerone Howard, Darrian Howard, Esq., Quinton Rodgers, Ericka Howard, MD., Lauren Rodgers, and Aaron Howard, Esq.
