Bobby Lee Griffin Jr., age 75, was called home by his Lord and Savior on December 6, 2022. Bobby was born 12/23/46 in Stamford, TX to Robert Lee Griffin Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Marsh. Bobby was raised from an early age by Lueda and Bird Mitchell and later by Square Quilla and Mary Marsh.
Bobby attended Booker T. Washington High School for most of his educational years but attended and graduated from Stamford High School for his senior year once schools integrated. In the years following graduation he worked for a few different employers in the Stamford area, before beginning a career with Burlington Northern Railroad in 1973. He worked for (BNSF) for the next 34 years in areas around Stamford and Ft. Worth until he retired in 2007. While working for the railroad he worked with many co-workers who became lifelong friends.
Bobby married Marilyn Cook-Dillard in 1966 and he and Marilyn had their only child Bobby Griffin Ill. Bobby loved his family, and was a great role model of fatherhood, manhood and friendship for his son, grandchildren, extended family, and community.
Bobby was raised in the church in his hometown of Stamford and after relocating to Fort Worth, was a long-time member of Concord Baptist Church where he served as an usher for many years.
In remembrance and celebration of his life, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend to many. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lueda Mitchell. He leaves to cherish his memory: the love of his life, Marilyn Griffin; his son, Bobby Griffin Ill (Lori); three grandchildren, Bobby Griffin IV, Bryce Griffin and Kiersten Griffin; a mother-in law, Thelma Johnson; one sister, Dora Williams; many brothers and sisters in law; two nieces, Charlotte Thompson-Brown and Kathy Thompson; his fellow BN/BNSF Railroad retiree buddies and a host of extended family members and special friends.
