(Aubrey, TX) – College decisions are seldom made easy. As a result of a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) regarding the Distinguished High School Partnership Program, students at Aubrey High School in Aubrey, Texas who graduate in the top 50% of their class have a clear path heading west to fulfill their collegiate aspirations at Tarleton State University in Stephenville.
Beginning this school year, graduates in the top 50% will be granted automatic admission to Tarleton. Aubrey ISD students who qualify for the university’s Guaranteed Scholarship Program (GSP) will receive amounts greater than existing levels based on their class rank; $1000 above if in the top 10% and $500 above if in the top 50%. There are also opportunities for qualifying students to have the admissions application fee waived.
Aubrey ISD Superintendent Dr. David Belding is excited for what this partnership will deliver to Aubrey ISD students.
“I think it will give our graduating Chaparrals even more options and opportunities to pursue their education past high school,” Dr. Belding said. “Tarleton State University is a great institution and we’ve had a number of students go to Tarleton over the last few years. I’m excited to strengthen the partnership we have with them.”
Tarleton State University President James Hurley sees this connection as beneficial and a shared duty of preparing students.
“Aubrey graduates are destined to be leaders,” President Hurley said. “We have a social and economic responsibility to invest in their future. This partnership fits perfectly with our mission to be a first-choice institution for high school seniors.”
Both Aubrey ISD and Tarleton will work together to support students in need of financial aid, degree counseling, mentorship programs and additional resources to ensure success.
Students who qualify for automatic admission are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores, however it’s important to note that not doing so may compromise scholarship consideration.
