A 52-year-old Dallas business might be in danger of closing and not for a short time but for good. Because of COVID-19, Tradewinds Social Club in Oak Cliff has been closed and owners say they have been trying their hardest to open up their doors, and soon.
This is the second time Tradewinds has had to shut down. A lot of bars reopened in May but when Tradewinds found out that Texas was moving backward in phases, they did not have a plan.
As of now, the establishment doesn’t have a reopening date set but has hope that the community, they have served for more than half a century, will pitch in.
Justin DiBernardo, who is the manager and bartender, set up a GoFundMe page to spread the word about supporting the business.
He wrote, “With no reopening in sight we need support to pay our bills while we ride out the pandemic. We hope that when this is all over with we can get back to hosting all your favorite events and being your favorite little neighborhood dive you count on.”
