WAG Hosts Benef it for Homeless Veterans

Homeless Veterans

From Staff Reports

With Dallas the home of the largest homeless population of veterans in the country, more and more advocates are stepping up to ensure that those who served this Country at the very least have a place to rest at night.

Warriors Advocate Group (WAG), through the Building Homes for Heroes program, is hosting its inaugural charity event this weekend to support efforts towards building a housing program for homeless Veterans and aid transitioning military Veterans by providing temporary housing assistance, job training, and entrepreneurial opportunities.

The Building Homes for Heroes fundraiser, on August 27, is a Black Tie Event at Redefined Coffeehouse, 200 W Northwest Highway, Grapevine, TX 76051. While educating possible donors on the plight of Veterans, it will also allow WAG to provide Veterans in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with necessary support, especially during these trying times, says organizers.

“Our country has a shortage of veteran housing and Warriors Advocacy Group wants to change that,” said WAG CEO Corneilous Thomas. “With the assistance of local government officials and community leaders we hope to heighten the awareness of issues facing Veterans.”

In addition to the WAG’s Homeless Veterans Project, there’s also the RedBox Project. With the help of the Department of Veterans Affairs, WAG has developed a program, Homeless Veterans Project, that will build new housing for homeless Veterans starting in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The program is designed to offer job training and temporarily house Veterans for up to two years until permanent housing is acquired.

The Red Box Project offers Veterans the opportunity to become entrepreneurs by constructing custom shipping container kiosks, so Veterans can establish their own vendor-style companies.

WAG is committed to advocacy and the advancement of Veterans across the country; with a particular emphasis of establishing headquarters in Dallas- Ft. Worth and the objective of expanding to other US regions. WAG is focused on providing Veterans with the resources and support needed to build a solid foundation for continued success.
