QUIT PLAYIN: Ease Up Mr. President!

Don’t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, he will also reap! – Galatians, 6:7

BY: Vincent L. Hall

Dear President Donald Trump,

Grace, Peace, and Love be multiplied. Congratulations on winning a second term. However, between your unwarranted executive orders and the deluge of police state-like tactics against “aliens” and citizens, I frankly haven’t had the heart or time to write to you before now.

The chemistry that you won on was formed by a lethal concoction of division, fear, and hatred. To use the words of Maya Angelou, your rise to the presidency in these “yet to be” United States has been disuniting at every turn.

The Christian Nationalists rode in as your posse, and even a casual onlooker must admit that you have united with them in a demonstrably unholy wedlock. Media manipulation and the cult of celebrity have teamed up once again. Any American who is not undeniably “White” and unabashedly male is subject to a coarse and unbearable version of what you believe the forefathers meant!

You were sworn in last January on a campaign that concentrated on elevating fears and lowering ethical standards. Nothing is dastardlier than preying on ethnic, religious, and racial hostilities in a nation that has never been truthful about the ugly undercurrent of racial and gender oppression. The politics of Patriarchy have never been more evident.

You are complicit in the senseless deaths and murders of hundreds of thousands of men, women, and babies, from the Gaza Strip to the capital city of Kyiv in Ukraine. Some believe that you have purposely played footsies with Netanyahu and Putin as they plot the plunder of land and ethnic enemies. The news of an imminent cease fire are always followed by more bombings.

Mexicans, Africans, Muslims, and all manner of legal citizens and immigrants live in total fear. After 40 years of police chiefs working to build a bond with communities of color, you have unleashed a policing strategy that will eventually make men and women in blue the most hated profession in America. ICE officers make “late night” tow truck drivers look like saints by comparison.

But Mr. President, I write this missive to remind you that Jesus, the one you call on when you need some votes, was very transparent in his warning. Jesus promised that when He judges the nations, He will separate the sheep from the goats.

He will say to you, Mr. President, “I needed healthcare, and you reduced access to make decamillionaires and billionaires even richer. I needed food, but your tariffs are causing farmers to fail and foreclose at an alarming rate. Food is too high to buy for poor and elder Americans.

Mr. President, you have led an evil legion of men whose efforts and emphasis are the soft genocide of anyone or anything that is not dedicated to White male dominance. You have disheartened and sullied the reputation of our armed forces. You have put us at odds with our former allies.

But Mr. President, this God you claim conveniently now will not be mocked. He will judge each of us. There are generational consequences for every decision we all make. Our children are already suffering enough.

So, I close with a word from my mother. “All of us have to reap what we sow. Make it easy on yourself, son. It is in that spirit that I ask you to ease up Mr. President.
