
On September 28 The Secretary of the Army cleared the military records of 167 Black soldiers who were dishonorably discharged in 1906 because they refused to identify alleged participants in the Brownsville Raid. This was an incident of racial discrimination that occurred in 1906 in the Southwestern United States due to resentment by white residents of Brownsville, Texas, toward the Buffalo Soldiers, and Black soldiers in a segregated unit stationed at nearby Fort Brown.
