Texas State Representative James Talarico invited members of the Divine 9 to discuss the upcoming election.
November 3, 2026 is the day of reckoning!
Nearly 500, at my last count, members of Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, and Iota Phi Theta fraternities joined with the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, and Sigma Gamma Rho sororities to discuss issues pertinent to Black people in Texas.
In addition to Representative Talarico message, leaders of the Texas House and the DIvine 9 member organizations also participated in a brief panel discussion during the one-hour virtual “conversation.”
As noted by Texas State Representative Toni Rose, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Talarico has been a strong supporter of issues especially important to African Americans.
She elaborated on his support for challenges to Republican-led redistricting efforts, which Talarico called “racist,” as well as other measures to disenfranchise citizens.
She discussed his record in the Texas House and pointed out that he has been a strong, respected, and supportive voice from the beginning.
During a short but strong presentation, Talarico thanked members for participating in “A Conversation with James Talarico and Members of the Divine Nine.”
Acknowledging that all nine organizations, collectively, are a strong, educated, and informed base, he pointed out that his campaign was “people-powered” and a grassroots movement.
In less than a month, we will see how effective all the efforts have been. The movement aims to change history, hopefully ending some of the havoc that continues to destroy the quality of life for so many, and establishing respect and decency as the order of the day.
Rep. Talarico said he is helping to build a movement. Hopefully, the voters will seize this opportunity and send a strong message to the world that we are not the ones who are spineless, heartless, brainless, and senseless!
Monday night was one conversation. We need to have many more before, during and after the election.
And hopefully that same movement will sweep across this country, especially in Georgia and Florida!
