Five additional fire agencies worked alongside Wilmer FD during Wednesday’s two-alarm fire

WILMER – At approximately 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Wilmer firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the 2900 block of Post Oak Rd in Dallas County. Upon arrival, firefighters found the cab of an 18-wheeler fully involved.

Wilmer Fire Chief David Gifford said, “The heat from the tractor fire quickly ignited a large stack of polypropylene pallets being stored at the site. The plastic pallets along with a strong wind engulfed the large storage of pallets sending huge amounts of thick black smoke into the air.”

The fire was brought under control at approximately 3:30 p.m. with no injuries being reported.

The Wilmer Fire Department said fire agencies that assisted in battling the blaze Wednesday included Dallas County Fire, Hutchins Fire, Ferris DPS, Forney Fire, and Dallas Fire.
