CURTIS RAY GILBERT, affectionately known as “Rushin,” left this world on October 22, 2024, at 63, but his spirit and laughter remain indelibly etched in the hearts of all who knew him. Born on July 9, 1961, Curtis was a man of many roles—loyal friend, steadfast leader, and a source of boundless joy. With a smile that could light up even the darkest of rooms, he possessed an innate ability to draw people together, nurturing bonds that celebrated life’s simple pleasures.

A true lover of life, Curtis found joy in the act of fishing, relishing both the tranquility of the water and the thrill of the catch. He was also a dedicated foodie, someone who understood that the best moments were often shared over a meal. His passion for good food mirrored his love for sharing life with family and friends, each gathering infused with his infectious humor and generosity.

Curtis’s strength came not only from his steadfastness but also from his loving nature, wrapping those around him in warmth and care. As a leader, he combined his humor with loyalty, guiding those who relied on him with such innate charisma that following him felt less like duty and more like a joyous journey.

The community will gather to celebrate his life with a Prayer Service on November 4, 2024, at 6:00 PM, followed by his Funeral Service on November 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM, both held at Golden Gate Funeral Home – Fort Worth, located at 5701 East Loop 820 South, Fort Worth, TX. Curtis will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery later that day during a poignant Burial Service set to begin at 2:15 PM, ensuring his connection to the earth remains as strong as his ties to those he cherished.
