“The Coronavirus pandemic has affected so many of our listeners and we feel it is our responsibility to help educate the community about the vaccine, COVID-19 safety protocols, and the stimulus package that’s so desperately needed, especially on the heels of such a historic decision,” said Tami Honesty, vice president and general manager for Urban One Dallas, in a recent statement.

The town hall comes on the heels of Texas Governor Greg Abbott call executive order to lift the state-wide mask mandate and rolling back Texas restrictions beginning next week.

“The coronavirus pandemic has exacerbated the existing health care disparities that face low-income communities,” said U.S. Rep. Marc Veasey (TX-33), who toured Dallas’ Fair Park COVID-19 vaccination site Friday. Veasey will join the panel to discuss how the government is planning to help people affected by the coronavirus in regards to healthcare, job loss, unemployment, and the pending stimulus package.

Community Affairs Director and On-Air Talent, Jazze “Radio-Chica” Maxie will moderate.

Watch the conversation live on Urban One’s Facebook pages on 97.9 The Beat and Majic 94.5.
