UNCF North Texas Walk For Education Recap

The North Texas Walk for Education took place on Saturday, September 14, at the historic Lake Cliff Park. The event was chaired by Greer Christian and saw a participation of 200 walkers, including a representative from our member institution, Jarvis Christian University, who brought nearly 50 students. The event was hosted by NBC DFW news anchor Brittney Johnson, and featured a warmup session by PureNRG Cycle co-founder, Janelle Wright. Additionally, there was a poignant tribute to Officer Darron Burks by the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors such as H-E-B, Vistra/TXU Energy, Baylor Scott and White, Lockton Dunning Benefits, Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, Ben E. Keith, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, PureNRG Cycle, and media sponsor Radio One. The walk also received invaluable assistance from volunteers, including the North Texas Leadership Council, North Texas Inter-Alumni Council, Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc./Top Teens of America, and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. This year’s event has successfully raised $45,000 and continues to receive support for students in North Texas.
