She has served as the Vice President of Development and Advancement at Places for People, Inc., Director of Special Projects for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Executive Director of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, Executive Vice President of Grace Hill Settlement House, Vice President of Community Services for Provident, Inc., and Grants Manager/Hearing Officer for Housing Authority of East St. Louis. A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, she attended Jackson State University and received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies and went on to Saint Louis University School of Law, graduating with her Doctor of Law.
