Mary Annjurene Keyes is known to most in the HIV advocacy community as Anjie, of Kansas City, MO. Anjie acquired HIV 24 years ago as a result of rape; but she found purpose in her diagnosis, which laid the groundwork for her advocacy as a motivational speaker and facilitator. She is the founder of Positively Rare Enterprise to work with women living with and affected by HIV who are battling the effects of stigma. She wants to change the public’s perception of HIV to remind people that it is a human disease. It does not target specific demographics because of sexual preference.”
