Former Dallas Independent School District student is taking the next step by investing in the next generation of leaders.
Jonathan Lopez, a 2014 graduate of the Yvonne Ewell Townview Magnet High School, earned his degree from a trade school where he perfected working on commercial refrigeration. He is now helping others at the North Dallas Career Institute.
Lopez said he had a challenging upbringing and understands that other students might be experiencing the same situation.
“There were times when I was in elementary school where we didn’t have food at home, so if it weren’t for the meals Dallas ISD provided, I don’t know where we’d be right now,” Lopez said.
He also launched a Dual Language Principles of Construction course this fall because he said he thought it was important to teach English to Spanish speakers to help with hands-on projects.
