Gracie Mae Jackson

Gracie Mae Jackson (Williams) was born on March 5, 1943 to parents, Annie Mae Johnson and Garfield Williams in Leigh, Texas.

Our mother’s life was not an open book, however to those who knew her, she was very well liked for her feistiness, being outspoken with her thoughts, and her contagious smile. She was mean on the domino table and at the card game Tunk. She loved sports, especially professional and collegiate football. She kept notebooks, upon notebooks of every score, from every quarter, of every game since the 1970s. She loved live music and dancing. At a young age, she gave her life to Christ Jesus and made sure people knew it.

Gracie Mae fought cancer and was a formable opponent to this illness until her body could fight no more. Maurice Jackson, Sr. was by her side as she fought. She finished the fight seven days before her 80th birthday. While a twin for only a short period of time, she was loved and protected by her brothers J.D. Williams (deceased), M.T. (Charlie) Williams (deceased), T.H. Williams (deceased) and J.W. Williams.

She is survived by her brother J.W. Williams, sons Charles Ray Beaty, Maurice Jackson, Jr., daughter Yolanda Denise Miller (Jackson), grandsons Jakari Oshea Bradford, Jacoby Chandler Lloyd-Jackson; stepsisters Helen Wiggins, Dianna Hayes, Ella Lewis, Katherine Thomas, stepbrothers Lonnie Williams, Frankie Robinson, Glenn Williams, Alton Blalock and Anthony Blalock, and a host of other stepsisters and brothers to name. She will be deeply missed.
