Water Collected to Send to Mississippi Amid Water Crisis to Be Delivered via UPS
MIAMI, FL (September 12, 2022) – The Orange Blossom Classic Committee is teaming up with UPS to aid in the ongoing water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi. Last week, as the Jackson State Tigers focused on the game against HBCU rivals Florida A&M Rattlers, organizers of the weekend event delivered on its pillar of community impact, orchestrating a bottled water donation drive.
With the generous support of South Florida residents and local leaders who accepted the call to action, over 2,000 cases of bottled water were collected for delivery to Jackson State University and its neighboring communities.
While water pressure has been restored in much of the area, the water is still not safe to drink; a state-issued boil-water notice remains in effect.
Donations collected during the Denny’s Orange Blossom Classic Presented by Ready Life weekend was supported in part by the City of Miami Gardens and Cox Media Group. More donations came from UPS employees and UPS will transport the donations via two UPS trailers, which will depart:
