Deion Sanders has committed half of his salary to complete the Jackson State University (JSU) football facility, The Clarion-Ledger reports.
Sanders joined the JSU Tigers in 2020, signing a four-year, $1.2 million deal, averaging about $300,000 per year. Since then the NFL Hall of Famer has committed to bringing back the glory days of JSU, building a championship team, and reigniting the conversation and interest around the importance of student-athletes joining HBCU football programs.
Now he’s doubling down on that commitment, taking to Instagram to announce that he will be donating half of his salary to help complete the football facility renovations before the new season starts. His goal is to get it done at least one month before the season opener.
“I’ll put half on it to get this done. If you don’t believe me, check me. I will send you the receipts,” wrote Sanders.
The Tigers’ first game is September 4 in Miami against Florida A&M University.
Thank you for all you do and continue to do, Coach Prime!
