DALLAS – The City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture (OAC) is announcing the start to Dallas Arts Month 2022.

A press conference will be held to kick off Dallas Arts Month at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at the historic Majestic Theatre located at 1925 Elm St. in downtown Dallas. Leaders from the Dallas arts and cultural community will be onsite to kickoff Dallas Arts Month with performances by local artists and remarks by District 14 City Council Member Paul Ridley and Office of Arts & Culture (OAC) Director Jennifer Scripps.

“Dallas is committed to supporting the arts,” said Mayor Eric Johnson. “And through Dallas Arts Month this year, we can celebrate our diverse communities and our rich arts-and-culture scene. This Arts Month will be special as we reemerge from the pandemic, and I hope our residents will take full advantage of an array of events and experiences that showcase our city’s creative side.”

Dallas Arts Month, first launched as Dallas Arts Week in 2013, is a city-wide celebration of Dallas arts, held annually in the month of April. The OAC, in partnership with the Dallas Arts District, AT&T Performing Arts Center (ATTPAC), and the Dallas Area Cultural Advocacy Coalition (DACAC), will spotlight our vibrant, diverse, and growing arts community.

“As the council member for District 14 representing the Dallas Arts District, I know first-hand that the arts are an important expression of our creative community and our diverse cultural makeup.  They are also a critical economic driver for the Dallas economy,” said Council Member Paul Ridley. Dallas Arts Month 2022 will be a celebration of our city’s creative economy.

Dallas residents and visitors can participate in hundreds of arts and cultural offerings both virtually and in-person with social distancing protocols enforced. Throughout the city, patrons can find festivals, plays, concerts, exhibitions and more.

“Dallas Arts Month is a huge celebration of the city’s cultural treasures at a time when the arts are critical to bringing our communities together.” said Lily Weiss, executive director for the Dallas Arts District. “I encourage everyone to embrace the rich culture and history of Dallas and welcome all to explore, experience, and enjoy the arts. Let’s rediscover the human spirit through the arts!”

There are several community events, which are free and open to the public, and special ticketed events.

“After having mostly virtual programming last year due to the pandemic, the return in-person programming for Dallas Arts Month is a tangible sign that our arts community is resilient and continues to be creative and dynamic,” said OAC Director Jennifer Scripps. “We all hope Dallas residents and visitors are able to experience some of the arts in our city.”

Dallas Arts Month 2022 includes major partners such as Downtown Dallas, Inc, the Dallas Arts District, Deep Ellum Cultural District and the Fair Park Cultural District. For full list of events and more information on this year’s Dallas Arts Month celebration visit DallasArtsMonth.com.
