Dear Friends,

Every Dallas resident deserves to live in a city that makes public safety its top priority.
That is why I’m asking you to join Dallas police officers, Dallas firefighters and community leaders across our city in voting FOR City of Dallas Proposition A, Public Safety Bonds, on your November ballot. The campaign is officially underway, and early voting begins Monday, October 19.
My work has always been about building pathways to opportunity in Dallas, from our classrooms to our workforce. None of that work holds up without a safe city to live, learn and work in. The public safety bonds proposition is a generational investment in the basics of public safety, and I’m proud to support it.
The Dallas Police and Fire Fighters Associations have endorsed the public safety bonds, saying “these investments will strengthen our ability to serve Dallas residents.” The Dallas Morning News editorial board has also endorsed the public safety bond calling the five projects “serious and immediate needs” for our city.
Right now, too much of the system that protects Dallas runs out of aging buildings that were never built for today’s needs. A vote FOR public safety bonds is a vote to:
Get fire trucks to your door faster. $22 million to replace the downtown fire station, allowing us to upgrade equipment and enabling crews to respond faster.
Prosecute criminals & solve cold cases. $150 million for an evidence storage room and crime lab that will help prosecute violent criminals, track habitual criminals, and solve cold cases.
More officers & faster response times. $231 million for facilities to train officers, attract new cadets and grow our department – making us safer and response times shorter.
The UNT Dallas center is a project I have championed, and it brings a major investment to Southern Dallas. More well-trained officers mean a safer Dallas and faster response times.
Protect & weatherproof 911. $40 million to provide a modern 911 operations center that is protected and secure during floods, ice storms, power-grid failures and other disasters.
City of Dallas Public Safety Bonds Proposition won’t raise your tax rate. State law requires every bond measure on the ballot to say “this is a tax increase,” but in this case, it isn’t. Because Dallas has managed its debt responsibly, Proposition A will not raise the tax rate. In fact, the city is on track to lower its tax rate in 2027 for the 11th consecutive year.
Every dollar is locked in for public safety. Bond funds are bound by a covenant that requires them to be spent only for their approved purpose. These projects were identified and approved by the Dallas City Council, and the city publicly reports its bond spending.
If you agree that public safety should be our top priority, here’s how you can help:
