
Dr. Tamara L. Brown’s journey to university leadership began in Virginia, where her experiences helped shape her perspective on education and opportunity. Throughout her career, she has recognized the value of mentors who take time to offer guidance and encouragement. Brown now serves as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at The University of Texas at Arlington, becoming the university’s first Black female provost in 2022. A trained clinical psychologist, she previously held leadership positions at the University of North Texas and Prairie View A&M University. Her work focuses on academic excellence and student success. Brown’s story highlights how mentorship and education can open doors for future generations.
