The nation’s largest touring marketplace for Black-owned businesses brings shopping, food, music and community back to Dallas on Sunday, September 20
DALLAS, TX — Black on the Block, the nation’s largest touring marketplace for Black-owned businesses, returns to Dallas this weekend for another celebration of Black entrepreneurship, culture and community. On Sunday, September 20, from 1–7 p.m., more than 100 Black-owned businesses will take over Gilley’s Dallas for an indoor-and-outdoor marketplace experience featuring shopping, food, music and family-friendly entertainment.
Following continued growth across the country, Dallas has become one of Black on the Block’s biggest market stops, drawing strong support from both local entrepreneurs and the community. Since launching in Los Angeles in 2021, Black on the Block has grown into a traveling cultural hub connecting thousands of consumers with Black-owned businesses in cities across the country.
“Dallas has continued to show Black on the Block so much love, so we’re incredibly excited to return to Gilley’s and bring the community together again,” said Black on the Block co-founders and sisters Lanie and Char Edwards. “Dallas has such a strong community of Black entrepreneurs, creatives and supporters, and that energy is always felt when we’re here. Our goal is to create an experience where people can discover incredible businesses, eat, dance, bring their families and have a great time, while knowing that every purchase they make is directly supporting a Black-owned business.”

Sunday’s marketplace will showcase a curated mix of entrepreneurs spanning fashion, beauty, food, accessories, home goods, wellness, art and more, giving attendees the opportunity to discover and shop directly from emerging and established Black-owned brands.
Adding to the day’s family-friendly programming, DFW Black Tennis, a USTA Texas nonprofit dedicated to empowering the Black community through tennis, will host a Red Ball Tennis Pop-Up at Black on the Block. The activation will give attendees an opportunity to experience tennis in an approachable, community-centered environment while introducing more families to the sport.
Music will remain at the center of the Black on the Block experience, with sounds from Dallas’ own DJ Kenny Lofton, alongside Brandon Blue and DJ WIRE. The event will be hosted by 97.9 The Beat’s Jazzi Black, bringing together shopping and entrepreneurship with the energy of a community block party.
At its core, Black on the Block was created to turn community support into real economic impact for Black-owned businesses. What began as a Los Angeles marketplace has grown into a national platform that introduces Black-owned businesses to thousands of consumers while creating spaces centered on commerce, connection and culture.
