Chief Tonja Bryant-Smith is a Deputy Chief with the Tallahassee Police Department, with more than 35 years of experience in law enforcement. She began her career as a Tallahassee Police Officer, serving for 11 years before joining the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. At FDLE, she served as a Narcotics Agent, Inspector, investigating members who violated laws, and Special Agent Supervisor. Chief Tonja Bryant-Smith is a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, where she served as President of the North Florida Chapter and received the 2022 Trailblazer Award and 2024 NOBLE Attorney General Eric Holder Leadership Award. Chief Bryant-Smith attended Florida State University and received a B.S. in Criminology.
