Reverend George Henry Duncan peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home on August 12, 2026. A devoted husband, loving father, honorable veteran, and faithful servant of God, his life was a profound testament to dedication, service, and love.
On November 26, 1950, a blessed journey began in Lake Providence, Louisiana, when George Richardson and Leola Duncan Campbell welcomed their precious son into the world. Growing up, George spent his days sharing joy, laughter, and an abundance of warmth with his family—traits that would exquisitely define his entire life. He built his educational foundation in the East Carroll Parish School System, proudly earning his diploma from G. W. Griffin High School.
Driven by a deep sense of duty and patriotism, George committed himself to the United States Army upon graduation, serving his country with prestigious honor. Following his military service, he established his roots in New Orleans, where he built a beautiful life. His heart truly found its permanent home when he united in holy matrimony with his beloved wife, Betty Banks Duncan, on May 12, 1973. Together, they embarked on a lifetime of shared devotion, a loving union that was blessed with two wonderful sons, Demetruis and Gerald.
A man of immense faith and spiritual conviction, Reverend Duncan answered the highest calling to become a minister of the gospel. He dedicated his life to spiritual leadership by serving dutifully as the Assistant Pastor of Star Bethel. His spiritual journey ultimately led him to shepherd his own flock as the Pastor of Life Light Missionary Baptist Church. Through the pulpit and his daily walk, George touched countless lives, offering guidance, comfort, and the unwavering light of his faith to all who crossed his path.
Reverend George Duncan leaves behind a powerful, enduring legacy of faith, family, and selfless service. He will be deeply missed by his devoted wife, Betty Duncan (DeSoto, TX); two sons, Demetruis (Nathasa) Duncan (Cedar Hill, TX), Gerald (Lathasa) Duncan (New Orleans, LA); one granddaughter, Jaliyah Duncan (New Orleans, LA); nine grandsons, Demetrius Theophile, Devonta Duncan, Gerald Duncan, Jr., Jaden Duncan; Ja’Ki Duncan, Jeremiah Duncan (New Orleans, LA); Darius Duncan, Dimitri Gaten (Cedar Hill, TX), De’Marian Duncan (Orlando, FL); four great grandchildren, Dimitri Gaten, Jr., Dylan Gaten, Dakari Gaten (Mansfield, TX), Ahmad Gaten (New Orleans, LA.); two brothers, Dwayne (Robbie) Campbell (Mansfield, TX), Keldric (Cassandra) Campbell (Forney, TX); two sisters, Zsa Zsa Richardson, Blanche Richarson (California). George was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Leola Campbell; father, George Richardson; grandmother, Ellen Johnson; grandson, Adarryl Chaney; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Frankie Collins; brothers, Johnnie (Lynn) Campbell, Willie Campbell, Jr. (Viola). George leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved church congregations to honor and cherish his life.
