Conference focused on empowering women and igniting a movement

Empowerment doesn’t check your zip code. Or your language. Or your culture.

That was the message when Action City Dallas – The Kingdom Colony, 3601 Smith Barry Road in Pantego, Texas, flew its team from Dallas, Texas, to Hazleton, PA., June 18 to 21 for The Office of the Woman, a women’s conference built around one bold assignment: empowering women to build within their office and igniting a women’s movement.

Lead Pastor John James and Executive Pastor Josephine James made the trip alongside their young adult travel revival team; worship leaders, multimedia team, and evangelist in answering an invitation from Prophet Victor Ruiz and Prophetess Cynthia Ruiz, who hosted the four-day gathering at their church, Centro de Adoración Marcando los Tiempos de Dios.

Here’s what made this trip different. ACD Kingdom Colony is a multicultural, multigenerational ministry with a vibrant young adult ministry. Hazleton is more than 63% Hispanic, according to

 U.S. Census data, and home to the highest percentage of Dominicans in Pennsylvania.

 Two churches, two cultures, but one Kingdom.

Before the plane ever left DFW, the worship team learned songs in Spanish.

The gospel was preached in nightly services, and the teaching went all the way back to the beginning – God forming Eve from Adam’s rib, the serpent’s deception in the garden, and the declaration God made afterward:

“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” — Genesis 3:15 (KJV)

The Office of the Woman isn’t a modern church trend. It was established in the garden. God Himself declared war between the woman and the enemy, which means the woman has been on the frontline of the fight since the garden. This conference called her to take her post, and the people of the church responded.

Then on Saturday, the Wise Women Build Summit brought the movement beyond the sanctuary. The summit was a convergence of local social advocates, community organizers, and affiliates from the local mayor’s office alongside women in entrepreneurship, government, ministry, business and leadership. Women traveled in from the DC metropolitan area, Philadelphia and the greater Pennsylvania area, Maryland and Virginia. Different cultures. Different sectors of industry. One room and a time of divine empowerment.

The weekend was loaded. Lives were impacted, women and men. Women stepped into their office; some were able to understand their identity in Christ. These aren’t titles handed to them, but a position God declared over them from the beginning. And it didn’t stop with the women, men left understanding the women in their lives differently. Children did too. Women walked out knowing who God has declared they are, not who culture says they are, not who their past says they are.

 A conference about the Office of the Woman didn’t just fill seats and lift hands before God, but it repositioned households to align with the word God spoke over the house.

Two pastors from Texas – A prophet and prophetess in Pennsylvania and a multicultural Texas ministry worshiping in Spanish in a Hispanic sanctuary. On paper, none of it matches. In the Kingdom, all of it does. The same God who established the Office of the Woman refuses to exclude anyone from the room.
