Dallas Black Beauty Mixer To Equip Brands With Media Visibility Tools

Sadiaa Black Beauty Guide’s mixer, themed “Black Marketing,” to help entrepreneurs gain media coverage and connect within the local beauty community.

Sadiaa Black Beauty Mixer X August 2025

Building on its mission to elevate and empower Black beauty professionals, Sadiaa Black Beauty Guide is hosting the next installment of its Black Beauty Mixer on Monday, August 18.

The monthly event series is designed to bring together local Black beauty entrepreneurs, creatives, and enthusiasts for real talk, resource sharing, and visibility-building while spotlighting the cultural and economic power of Black beauty.

The theme, “Black Marketing,” will focus on helping beauty founders understand what it takes to gain media attention and brand exposure. From crafting a compelling pitch to knowing what editors and platforms actually look for, the event will offer insider strategies from Stephenetta (isis) Harmon, Sadiaa founder and longtime beauty editor/writer.

The event is hosted in partnership with Mary Flewellen Foundation. “We’re honored to support Sadiaa’s mission to empower Black beauty entrepreneurs,” said Kaye Flewellyn, founder of the Flewellyn Foundation and owner, Flewellyn Salon. “Our foundation believes in the power of community-based collaboration and economic empowerment.”

“Dallas has always had deep roots in Black beauty, from its salons to product pioneers, especially through Kaye and her visionary leadership .” said Harmon. “We are looking to build more spaces that create community while equipping beauty professionals with the tools to be seen and supported.”

Harmon, who has led PR education workshops for beauty professionals through Milady and regularly contributes/pitches to major media outlets, will lead a candid session on preparing for media coverage. She’ll also share guidance on how to make your brand stand out in a saturated digital landscape.

“So many beauty founders have powerful stories, but they aren’t always prepared to tell them in ways that attract media coverage or partnerships,” Harmon added. “My goal is to help brands package their message, understand what outlets are looking for, and use the right tools to get seen.”

Sadiaa’s August Black Beauty Mixer takes place Monday, August 18, 7-10pm at Flewellen’s Hair Salon, located at 3611 S Lancaster Rd in Dallas.
