A MEAC game that could decide who appears in the Celebration Bowl will be played earlier than scheduled.

The South Carolina State Bulldogs’ trip to face the North Carolina Central Eagles has been moved from Saturday, Nov. 15, to Friday, Nov. 14, according to FBSschedules.

Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET at O’Kelly-Riddick Stadium, with ESPN providing live national coverage.

But why?

The broadcast will lead to a high-profile ACC showdown later that evening as the Louisville Cardinals host the Clemson Tigers at 8 p.m. ET, also on ESPN.

The Bulldogs claimed last season’s meeting, 24-21, in Orangeburg, which enabled them to clinch a MEAC championship.

The change in time will definitely impact attendance at what figures to be both teams’ most pivotal game of the season.
