OBIT: MAURICE SPENCER JR

Maurice Spencer Jr., affectionately known to friends and family as “Big Mo,” passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Born on March 24, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas, he lived a life rich with love, laughter, and dedication to both his family and career.

Maurice enjoyed a successful career at Flint Inc., where he held the position of supervisor, a role through which he touched many lives and garnered respect from colleagues. His engaging personality allowed him to relate to anyone he met, creating connections that spanned both personal and professional realms.

A proud alumnus of Sarah Zumwalt, Maurice was not only dedicated to his work but was also a passionate sports fan; he loved cheering for The Dallas Cowboys. His enthusiasm extended into other interests, including basketball, fishing, and traveling. Maurice cherished moments spent with family, often sharing stories and enjoying meals together, as he had a well-known love for food.

He is survived by his son, Stacy Allen; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, adding a legacy of love and joy to his family. Maurice is also survived by his siblings: Kathleen, Darrell, Glen, Jessie, Gregory, and Algretia, along with Patricia. These family members will carry his memory and the lessons he imparted through their lives.

Maurice was preceded in death by his beloved father, Maurice Spencer; his mother, Leola Wofford; and his devoted spouse, Maxine Spencer. Their memories will forever be intertwined in the hearts of those he left behind.

A viewing in honor of Maurice Spencer Jr. will take place on July 24, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 S R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. The funeral service will be held on July 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at New Unity Baptist Church, located at 6332 Bonnie View Road, Dallas, TX 75241.

Maurice’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, celebrated through joyful memories and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. His legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will be remembered and honored forever.
